Gawker 2.0 lays off entire staff

According to the New York Post:

This line in particular caught my attention:
In June, Ben Barna, an editor from Interview, joined Gawker and left after only five months.
That sentence doesn't make sense grammatically, but I get the gist:  Ben Barna joined Gawker in January, and he left in June.  I'm curious what exactly you do as an editor for five months when there's no website.  Do you show up an office, hash out ideas, and eat cheese?  If so, that sounds like a job I could do!
